(Thank you for visiting this site. I hope you enjoy following the highlighted links and images in this post.)
Cyclone season is approaching,
crocs are moving close to town.
Stingers stop us swimming
so we stay upon firm ground.
Now that mango trees are blooming
flying fox fill the evening sky
and grass is quickly dying,
it is enough to make me cry.
Destructive storms we do not want
nor tsunami from the sea
though rain brings hope to our Aussie lot
and bounty of the farmers crop.
In this land down under at the top
we sometimes wait for the rain to stop.
At times like now we watch and yearn
for signs to show of wet season's return.
And so I say to you this day
come and see us, maybe stay!
Rain and thunder will not keep me away
from welcoming you, so come anyway.
Sue Bayliss. Cairns, Australia.
